  • Lot #815 - 1886 NGC PR-66+ CAMEO
  • Hammer: $2,400
  • Nickels-Liberty Head
  • 3 graded PR-66+ CAM, 5 higher at NGC. Razor sharp obverse definition mates up well with bold but not quite perfect reverse sharpness for this shimmering, ostentatious proof type coin that also happens to be the same date as one of the well-known keys. All by itself, the obverse likely grades at least PR-67-plus but on the reverse, one can find a brief area of planchet imperfection beneath TED, limiting the grade.
