Gold $10-Liberty Head Eagle
Mintage: 16,013. Splendidly original . Mere mention of "1859 eagle" rarely inspires visions of scarcity, but a very low emission leads to some well bounded populations at either service today. This example features a fairly bold appearance despite a modestly incomplete strike as well as pleasing luster shimmering through the stars.

Mintage: 10,000. 39 graded AU-58, 13 higher at NGC. Impressively close to mint-state, where the population drops off a cliff, either side retains a vast majority of original luster, thinned on highpoint details by trace friction. Tiny scattered abrasions and a few minute hairlines on the reverse below the wreath speak to scant usage in circulation.
