Gold $20-Liberty Head Double Eagle
49 graded AU-58, 27 higher at PCGS. A single reed mark on the cheek provides by far the most obvious sign of contact since the balance of either side remains unexpectedly free from marks -- remarkable for the issue. Much like the preceding 1851-O, these early New Orleans issues are not extremely rare within the AU grades but become virtually impossible to locate in UNC.

Included are: 1935 (decent strike off of once-clashed and repolished dies), 1935-D (the commonly flatter strike yet zooming luster can still take advantage of nicely frosted texture), and 1935-S (clearly not well struck yet here again, ample luster makes up for any technical deficiency).
