Lowball collecting has become a thing in recent years as the cost of high-grade better-date silver dollars goes through the roof. Most of these are better dates, listed with estimated [cataloger grades] as follows: 1878-CC (Good, superbly original, 1878-S (VG/ancient cleaning has recovered gunmetal hue), 1888-O VAM-4 "hot lips" (Good, interesting Kraft envelope toning pattern), 1890-CC (Fine/old PVC conserved), 1893-CC (VG/dipped surface has recovered some color), 1894-O (Good/strangely colored), 1899-O (Good, outstanding and unusually strong album color), 1900-O (Fine, darker ashy grey), 1903-S (VF/cleaned with sharpness somewhat close to XF), and 1923-D (VF, modest album tone). Ten coin lot.

Morals And Liberty Collection. Kagin-3 (R.5). As with the contemporary 20-dollar pieces the predominant feature is an oversimplified depiction of Pike's Peak, replaced later by the imitative Liberty head obverse. This is an impressive coin despite very fair circulation due to lovely, original crimson-orange toning that lurks within protected areas, most prominently around the reverse periphery. While the foliage seen at the foot of the mountain shows fairly intricate details, the broader ledges seen on the mountain itself have lost the finest details to modest rub. Mild wear on the eagle also flattens out the upper edge of each wing and the talons.

Dating back to the early 1900’s or so, here’s a 14K yellow gold pin composed of a beautifully pale polished oval cabochon translucent agate. The agate is held in place by a bezel setting with swirly claws and four small accent diamonds. Dimensions 1.60” x 1”, 5.3 dwt.
