Collector Lots-So-Called Dollars
HK-308, struck in silver and showing a hint of cameo despite lack of designation at NGC. The edge is not visible and could be stamped as "Silber .990" alluding to coin-level precious metal. Prevalent toning suggests .990 rather than the pure silver content seen for some examples. Lovely, watery effect entirely consumes the fields, surrounding exquisitely high-resolution motifs. Rose-tan hue endows the surface as well and helps negate the effect of some very faint hairlines.

K.R. Consignment. HB-50, EP-6, R.6. JOSEPH L BATES / FANCY GOODS / 129 WASHINGTON St / BOSTON. Cataloger's grade: [very-fine] at the bare minimum. Possibly choice due to lovely, even powdery brass patina, the eye-appeal is improved a little by the stamp being better centered than some; U.S. POSTAGE is mostly legible beneath the upper rim of the encasing. All Joseph Bates encased stamps are rare, the 1-cent pieces being the only reasonably collectable denomination. Quality of the original mica is quite outstanding for the type, showing a faint hairline scratch but minimum visual impediments otherwise.
