  • Lot #411 - 1873 Closed 3 NGC MS-62
  • Gold $5-Liberty Head Half Eagle
  • Cheddars de Voirs Collection. 23 graded MS-62, 8 higher at NGC. Impressively struck for an 1870s emission despite some light peripheral die cracks on the reverse. A condition rarity, as is much of the gold series from the 1860s and 1870s, time has been relatively kind to this very select example, replete with unconventionally attractive two-toned medium orange hue. Fleeting hairlines skate over slightly flashy fields, accounted for in the grade.

  • Lot #898 - 1937 Arkansas NGC MS-67
  • Hammer: $1,550
  • Silver Commemoratives-Silver Commemoratives Half-Dollars
  • 23 graded MS-67, 6 graded MS-67+, zero higher at NGC. An extremely attractive example of a design not often called "beautiful", NGC pulled out all the stops in correctly calling out superb gem quality for this delightful half-dollar. Pastel bluish grey surfaces gleam with almost pearlescent effect, partially surrounded with dramatic iridescent amber-plum and royal gold hues. Close examination finds a couple of trivial micro-abrasions on the art deco designs, easily in keeping with the assigned grade.

  • Lot #309 - Native American Squash Blossom
  • Hammer: $550
  • Jewelry-Silver
  • Circa 1960/1970 and signed by Bobby Thompson of the Navajo nation, this sterling silver (tested, not marked) and turquoise squash blossom necklace features 10 blossoms set between seamed beads and a 5-stone Naja at the bottom. The turquoise cabs are set in a shadow box setting and while most of the background has been blackened nicely, a couple panels need a touch up of color. The turquoise used in the making appears to be from the Sleeping Beauty mine. Condition is very nice for its age with a vintage patina to the metal. Length 30”, 5.54 troy ounces
