  • Lot #758 - 1834 Small Date, Small Letters O-119 AU/wiped
  • Hammer: $525
  • Half Dollars-Capped Bust, Lettered Edge
  • Cochrane Gambit Consignment. Overton-119 (R.4), a somewhat better die-marriage for 1834, almost all examples seen, including this handsomely toned coin, will show softness within the broad juncture of the eagle's left (observed) wing and body. That said, it appears this dynamic coin received slightly above average details throughout. Circumspect examination finds a fair number of subtle hairlines in the obverse left and upper fields, suggesting an old wipe that leads to the cataloger's grade: [AU/cleaned]. That said, remaining details likely fall within AU-55 to MS-60 sharpness and the surface suffers unusually few abrasions.

  • Gold $20-Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle
  • Commissioned in 1904 by then president Teddy Roosevelt, Augustus Saint-Gaudens forever left his mark on American coinage with his legendary double eagle design.
