Lot #879 - 1819 9 Over (8) Large Date and an 1820 Large Date

Large Cents-Liberty Head
Somewhat better grade, earlier middle-date cents make this a pair to view with eagerness, complete with consignor attribution. First is 1819/(8), N-2, fabulously original and showing very few greenish crumbles at the cataloger's grade of [XF-40]. Accompanying is a familiar 1820, N-13 Randall hoard example which, though not original, shows somewhat interesting purplish and violet hues at the cataloger's grade of [AU-58/altered color]. Two coin lot.

Lot #358 - 1849-C PCGS XF-40

Gold $2.50-Liberty Head Quarter Eagle
Mintage: 10,220. Overall reasonably appealing given the mint of origin, close perusal with a loupe reveals slightly glossy character and light wear above Liberty's brow, over the curls and on the highpoints of the eagle's wings. This example of the rare 1849-C sees some circulation abrasions at the lower portrait, while the reverse essentially avoids mentionable contact. The strike appears typically weak on the eagle's left (observed) leg and the feathers immediately surrounding the shield.
