Large Cents-Classic Head
Sheldon-281, no clash marks and thus suggestive of an earlier strike. This Sheldon variety always seems to come a little softly struck yet the headband shows plainly and most definition within the strands of hair are nicely rendered. PCGS states "cleaned" but a more thorough inspection suggests that corrosion has been relieved from the surface, the whole coin later recolored nicely and nearly to the state of an original piece.

Clem Stevens Collection. Superb gem examples also see good strikes, although only 1940-S has an "FB" designation. This coin features remarkable ruby-violet and coral-gold toning that must be seen to be believed. Accompanying is 1945-S for which either side receives a broad splash of Pacific-blue color joining crimson-gold lowlights. Two coin lot.
