Gold $20-Liberty Head Double Eagle
A stately example from the end of the Civil War, the surface glows with soft radiance impaired by only a whisper of abrading within all fields. Brighter golden-yellow surfaces manage to evade major contact marks -- not all that common for large gold coins of this vintage. Sharply struck off of dies showing a light clash on Liberty's central portrait.

Land And Home Collection. Hodder 2-D, Breen-190, R.6+. The "Godless" LON DON variety is much scarcer than the more often encountered GOD PRESERVE LONDON varieties. The surface of this wallet-brown example has a somewhat dry appearance but has no curious discolorations. Several tiny, curious pockmarks dot the elephant side, while the reverse shows no unexpected contact.
