Gold $5-Liberty Head Half Eagle
Large Date. 31 graded XF-45, 44 higher at PCGS. Identified by noticing that "2" in the date rests closer to the rim than to the bust and considered somewhat less rare than the small-date logotype. Very subtle greyish-canary deposits rest within the central area of all fields, and contrasts well with the underlying glint of Charlotte gold. While every single star except the first unexpectedly retains full dentilation, inevitable contact marks across the center of the portrait and spreading out left of the mintmark speak to the level of wear, as does the obvious loss of intricacy to circulation.

Broad strikes, shifted dies, capped dies, off-center strikes, and struck on incorrect planchets are among the several types of United States mint errors found within this eighteen piece lot. Fourteen of these issues are raw examples that can not be accurately described by this cataloger. There are four remaining certified issues that includes 2x No Date PCGS MS-64 90% off-center struck Washington quarters, a 1980-P ANACS MS-64RB Jefferson nickel on 1C planchet, and a 1983-P ANACS MS-63 Broadstruck Partial Brockage. The only “mistake” to make would be to not view this group lot in person (ck).
