Annals At Phoenix Collection. Type I / I. The perfect grade for a chopmarked Trade dollar, MS-60 succinctly expresses shimmering white luster and a lack of actual wear upon the surface, although nobody could possibly miss a handful of Asian characters stamped into the obverse. The coin was struck with a reverse die showing extensive signs of failure, with multiple peripheral die cracks seen throughout.

Browning-1, a common die-marriage for which the reverse die crack in the upper field may not be diagnostic, but it certainly narrows attribution down rapidly. A broad splash of cobalt iridescence spills over Liberty's portrait, reaching for the bright chartreuse-gold hues surrounding the stars. Magenta and Navy-blue powder the reverse with pleasing, vintage appeal. Utterly trivial contact marks appear to be all that defies gem expectations.
