Julian PR-14. Original Ulysses S. Grant presidential medals were struck in two diameters -- 76 millimeter and the present 45 millimeter example. These also appear to be rarer than their larger counterparts and offer patina that utterly imitates dark milk chocolate. An extremely faint sliding abrasion aims down the obverse right field and two sharp, small marks land on Grant's forehead, and one small verdigris spot can be found on the lower reverse.

Often found cut a little askew, this particularly bright example has been almost ideally centered and squared properly when viewed from either side, which means the back of the note is as appealing as the front. Signatures were stamped a little high but are as bold and deep black as can be. A "small tear" as called out by PMG only just barely requires mention because it technically touches a portion of the design (the border line) else it would escape notice. Not mentioned is a tiny dab of greenish residue positioned below the offending "tear" -- the cataloger speculates a staple may have been professionally removed from the edge at some point.
