Cheddars de Voirs Collection. Glittering, pale golden surfaces comprise much of the character for 1914, both sides showing a decidedly weaker strike than usual. Mintage: 23,294. 14 graded MS-61, 9 higher at NGC. Delicately abraded overall and showing feathery hairlines in the fields, original as-struck flashy character remains visible nevertheless. A relatively poor survival rate amplifies the effects of lower mintage, making the 1849 an unheralded scarcity at the mint-state grade level.
