Mellow aluminum-grey embraces most of the surface, offset by subtle, steely areas that still somehow manage to preserve hints of luster. Along with moderate wear, a deficient central strike helps explain lack of definition at the obverse center, although the eagle's breast actually shows some trivial minor detailing. A great, original problem-free Carson City.

Noticeably luminous for the grade, both sides are graced with sweeping royal gold patina that mingles with occasional lavender accents. Clashed dies quickly explain the odd little disturbances seen within the fields, while some delicate hairlines may help explain the grade. The cheek looks mildly abraded, likely taken into account by the grade.
