Gold $5-Classic Head Half Eagle
McCloskey 4-C (R.4), block 8, plain 4, second head. 1834 marked the year when the mint changed design for the half-eagle, as the intrinsic value of each coin made it profitable (over face value) to melt them down for bullion. 4-C can most quickly be attributed by noticing a die crack that ejects from the top of Liberty's modified portrait. Noticeable flowline texture nearly touching the rims speaks also to later dies.

Seemingly a surefire crossover candidate to any legitimate grading service, the surface exhibits even yellow-golden hue from every viewing angle except for an occasional, minute crumble of tobacco brown. Despite delicate cracking around the periphery of the obverse die, both sides display sophisticated details and agreeable cartwheel effect.
