Lot #367 - 1911-D Strong D PCGS MS-62
Gold $2.50-Indian Head Quarter Eagle
Strong mintmark -- indeed about as bold of a "D" as one will ever find on this key quarter-eagle. So early seems to be the die-state that one wished it would be possible to view the edge outside of the gloopy PCGS insert. Both sides exhibit diminished luster, perhaps because of denser carrot-gold patina, and a staccato pinscratch sneaks down the forward part of the Indian's headdress, assuredly helping to determine the grade.

Gold Dollars-Indian Princess Head, Small Head
Retail #2 Scott Laiter Collection. Fair luster excites the surfaces and helps broadcast equal portions of yellow-gold and moonbeam hues. What appears at first glance to be an extremely faint scratch right of the obverse proves to be an interesting, lengthy area of lavender toning upon further investigation. A couple of trivial, triangular bagmarks appear on the upper reverse.
