A tremendous trio of difficult to find early United States proof sets that are each still securely housed in their original government packaging. Included in this run is a 1938, a 1940, and 1941 proof set that all offer above average grades and eye appeal. Each of these sets is still wrapped up in mint tissue and are still in their unbroken cellophane holders. There is zero question to the originality of these sets and that is very difficult to find in today’s marketplace (ck).

Lot #418 - 1807 Bust Left NGC MS-62

Gold $5-Capped Bust to Left Half Eagle
Bass-Dannreuther-8, by far the more available of two die marriages dated 1807. Not only is this "the right" variety to pick for type purposes, but in a competent grade of MS-62, one doesn't miss out on much as compared to a mere point's upgrade. This example features acceptable, slightly muted luster, and an excellent strike despite lightly clashed dies. Near-brilliant canary-gold hue generally dominates except where a trace of greyish overtone shows, particularly on the portraits. The cataloger could find no evidence of adjustment marks -- bonus points for many type collectors.

Large and in charge, this royal knight cameo carved in natural quartz agate, Stone Group Laboratories report #240827H-SJ has a brownish grey color and measures 32.8x22.1x9.1mm. The cameo has a bezel around it and sits on a scalloped band. Approximate Ring size 6 (with Sizing Beads), 16.0 dwt.
