Collector Lots-Proof Sets
Any collector of early United States proof sets can tell you just how difficult it has become to find these sets “out in the wild”. A consecutive run of five such sets from 1938 through 1942 fill this group lot. Each of these sets are carefully housed in a Capital plastics holder and offers superb quality. Nearly all of the silver issues offer trace amounts of light toning while the nickels and cents show slightly higher degrees of toning that is typical for the type. There is very little question to the natural integrity of each of these sets (ck).

Scott Laiter Collection. While sometimes found prooflike, this is a fully frosted and impressively preserved Carson City that yields all of the appearance of mint-state, right down to flowline effect all the way through the fields -- admittedly diminished just barely by touch friction. In years past, this coin was undoubtedly sold as UNC. Telltale signs of wear, if one is being honest, include a small, visibly worn spot on Liberty's cheek and exceedingly faint butterscotch accents on the highest raised portion of several hair strands. While many marks spill across both sides, most appear to be bagmarks, joined by very little evidence of circulation contact.
