Gold $5-Indian Head Half Eagle
45 graded MS-65, 5 higher at NGC. Nearly in the discussion for finest-known status, the quality seen here maximizes the appeal of devastating metallic mint luster and fabulous, bright golden color. A small nick in the reverse upper right field denies even further upgrade while the obverse displays merely a whiff of roll friction on the cheekbone. An example that will prove near impossible to improve upon.

The four PCGS issues includes a 1936 Bay Bridge MS-65 (toned), a 1936 Bridgeport MS-65 (white), a 1936 Cleveland MS-65 (white), and a 1936 Delaware MS-66 (light tone). Peripheral tones nicely frame the lone NGC example which is a 1936 Albany graded as MS-65 (ck).
