Lot #860 - 1937-D 3 Legged AU
Nickels-Buffalo
Benjamin J. Collection. Cataloger's grade: AU/reverse wiped. Light golden toning is classic for Denver nickels of the era, and it plays beautifully over these almost fully lustrous surfaces. Sharpness probably exceeds AU-55, but a good lamp brings about some very fine hairlines traveling diagonally over the bison's back. A terrific candidate for any high-end album collection.

Front margins are rather balanced while the back modestly favors a broader top margin. Paper quality would look right at home on an AU example although of course, the usual light folds plop the note right into the extremely-fine range. Hands-down outstanding.
