  • Lot #398 - 1842-C Large Date PCGS XF-45
  • Gold $5-Liberty Head Half Eagle
  • Large Date. 31 graded XF-45, 44 higher at PCGS. Identified by noticing that "2" in the date rests closer to the rim than to the bust and considered somewhat less rare than the small-date logotype. Very subtle greyish-canary deposits rest within the central area of all fields, and contrasts well with the underlying glint of Charlotte gold. While every single star except the first unexpectedly retains full dentilation, inevitable contact marks across the center of the portrait and spreading out left of the mintmark speak to the level of wear, as does the obvious loss of intricacy to circulation.

  • Lot #870 - 1909-S VDB Lincoln PCGS MS-63RB
  • Hammer: $2,000
  • Small Cents-Lincoln, Wheat
  • Leaning toward the brown side of the color designation, the surface does merge with stronger reddish orange toward the better protected peripheral areas. A cleanly struck and decently sharp key Lincoln cent, the surface shows very few disturbances for the grade, allowing for ready appreciation of subtle woodgrain toning.
