Cheddars de Voirs Collection. A remarkable trio of California fractional gold, specifically 25-cent pieces, comprises this PCGS grouping. Included are: BG-727 (astonishingly high grade and blatantly prooflike), BG-728 (drenched in curiously lackluster greenish hue and unusually well struck), and BG-872 (rather outstanding citrus-gold on the obverse and lemon-yellow on the reverse with semi-prooflike reflectivity). Mastodon Collection. KM#120, Mexico City mint, 0.0952 oz. Slightly flashy and sharp, the quality lays every claim to the choice grade level. Though occasionally found somewhat semi-prooflike, this pleasing little beauty has become bathed in shimmering luster after a very good strike. Higher grade examples seen by the cataloger all seem to have been taken off of repolished, previously rusted dies that created peculiarly dimpled texture over the upper and lower portrait.
