Lot #462 - 1897-O PCGS MS-61
Gold $10-Liberty Head Eagle
Mintage: 42,500. Heavier abrasions thump the reverse while overall, both sides show a number of the bagmarks expected of the date. 1897-O is not actually rare despite the lower mintage, but certified mint-state examples prove difficult to find at PCGS. A glittering example with occasional greyish crumbles that suggest a non-cleaned surface.

First is 1893 with a flurry of tiny bag abrasions on the obverse, fewer on the reverse and very good luster over a tremendous strike. 1897 displays fewer abrasions overall than its companion but also shows a moderate abrasion right on the cheek. This 14K yellow gold 16 size hunter case pocket watch is marked “Ischronal Vibrations Ed Richard Locle” on the movement. The back inside lid is engraved "S. H. Tillotson”. Front lid has “C.T.S.” engraved. This 7 jewel movement pocket watch is in great shape! Winds, sets and runs. 82.2 dwt.
