A combination of supply scarcity and incredibly low mintages have caused the fractional issues of the American Platinum Eagle series to skyrocket in value over recent years. The inception of this series took place in 1998 and by the end of 2008 only 1oz. issues were being struck. Six 2005 $25 (1/4oz.) pieces fill this group lot of NGC certified examples that have all been graded as MS-70. Pacific Coast Highway Collection. KM#373. Commemorating the 400th birthday of Phillip the Magnanimous, this is a spectacular gem that readily earns the Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award. Extremely attractive Crayola colors mostly surround the obverse with deep purple, ocean-blue, violet-gold and chartreuse rainbows. The reverse is, if anything, even more spectacular as the crystal-bright surface is entirely surrounded by stunning, vivid cobalt-chartreuse, cinnamon-gold and crimson-amber toning. Distinctive of the type, the obverse shows subdued matte texture against a mirrored finish on the reverse.
