KM#231, Lima mint, mintage: 3409. A superior gem, the surface exudes tremendous mint bloom and fabulously consistent, even golden hue. As is common for the issue, the first "6" in the date appears to be cut over an underlying digit.

At first glance, the quality seems much superior to MS-62, and even careful scrutiny will find only the most trivial abrasions, about the size of flea specks. MS-64 almost seems like a possibility until one discovers light hairlines erratically scattered within the fields, albeit they are clearly toned down by the attractive yellow-gold color. Almost fully struck and showing a nice, sharp "D" mintmark on the reverse.
