Benjamin J. Collection. VAM-2 is one of the non-spitting eagle varieties for 1891-CC. Good luster and a whisper of golden hue grace either side while Liberty's cheek displays the usual light abrasions. Otherwise, fields appear unusually clean for this satiny example.

Absolutely contact-free, smooth and fully struck, Liberty's cheek ticks off the top of the want list for a Morgan dollar nearing perfection in terms of grade. Astoundingly, so common is the 1879-S that even at this lofty grade level, the population report is not worth denoting, but for an "ultimate" kind of type collector, the outrageous late-die frosted luster and ridiculously sharp strike both satisfy the most demanding collector.
