Bass-Dannreuther-1, R.3. Undoubtedly dedicated to a necklace early in life, this 1809/8 capped bust half-eagle suffered the indignity of a hole piercing the field at 12:00. A fairly competent effort was made to fill it in, with better results shown on the reverse.

Despite delicate cracking around the periphery of the obverse die, both sides display sophisticated details and agreeable cartwheel effect.
