Large Cents-Draped Bust
Sheldon-266, die-state IV, the 1804 date obviously a key and even more elusive due to how many collectors pursue S-266 by die-state. For this bold example, rim breaks show plainly over RTY and MERIC. Dies are rotated by about 20 degrees for a coin that makes the cataloger's grade of [XF/corrosion removed], and the surface has been rather nicely recolored with chestnut-brown patina that has olive inflections on the reverse.

Sparkling white and pure in appearance. The cheek appears amazingly clean for the grade, and indeed, the entire obverse begs for a gem grade assessment, but turning to the reverse discovers several hairline abrasions on the eagle's portrait.
