Collector Lots-Mint Sets
Early United States mint sets are among the most difficult items to find in their original condition and packaging. There are five such issues here that includes a 1949, a 1951, a 1952, a 1954, and a 1957. Each of these are still in their original cardboard sleeves and envelopes as well. Wispy and dusty tones cling to all of the surfaces of each issue within each set lending even further evidence to these particular set’s originality. Often found cut a little askew, this particularly bright example has been almost ideally centered and squared properly when viewed from either side, which means the back of the note is as appealing as the front. Signatures were stamped a little high but are as bold and deep black as can be. A "small tear" as called out by PMG only just barely requires mention because it technically touches a portion of the design (the border line) else it would escape notice. Not mentioned is a tiny dab of greenish residue positioned below the offending "tear" -- the cataloger speculates a staple may have been professionally removed from the edge at some point.
