Gold $2.50-Liberty Head Quarter Eagle
Cheddars de Voirs Collection. A trio of quarter-eagles present nicely for the collector focused on this very difficult series. The first two examples are green label holders and include: 1873 "open 3" (dusky reddish-gold and extremely well struck but showing a couple of more noticeable abrasions) and 1873 "closed 3" (greyish overtone to the overall golden hue and also showing a very good strike). Accompanying is 1873-S (modest wear and interesting ruby-gold patina throughout). Three coin lot.

Quarter Dollars-Capped Bust
Robert Michaels Collection. Browning-1. One of the most outrageous coins to exist is the Newman example of this same die-marriage graded NGC MS-67 "star"... but it likely costs a third of a million dollars today. For everyone else, there are nicer choice UNC examples like the present salmon-grey specimen also certified by NGC. The surface seems immaculate -- certainly less bagmarked than one expects of the grade while an impressive strike brings up all of the stars as well as intriguing clash marks strewn into the fields. Minimal planchet striations over the lower bust are likely adjustment marks but they were mostly ironed out by the excellent strike. In this die state, all that remains visible of the underdigit is a small diagonal in the upper loop of "8" and a tiny remnant of the vertical part of the flag adhering to the left.

Recovered from the sunken Spanish galleon, the Santa Margarita this 8 Reale coin of Philip III is set into a 14K and sterling silver bezel. The bezel features a scene of a dolphin and a patch of seaweed. This does come with a certificate of authenticity from Mel Fishers’s Treasures, LLC. with a grade of four.
