Cheddars de Voirs Collection. A remarkable trio of California fractional gold, specifically 25-cent pieces, comprises this PCGS grouping. Included are: BG-727 (astonishingly high grade and blatantly prooflike), BG-728 (drenched in curiously lackluster greenish hue and unusually well struck), and BG-872 (rather outstanding citrus-gold on the obverse and lemon-yellow on the reverse with semi-prooflike reflectivity). Silver Dollar-Liberty Seated
18 graded PR-64 CAM, 12 higher at PCGS. A large crescent of vintage, flimsy autumn-gold rests above and below a central steely grey streak across the middle of the obverse while the reverse has become entirely infused with the same autumn gold. The strike borders upon perfection, showing faint softness perhaps above the eagle's left (observed) talon. Merely 600 proof examples were struck, this an unorthodoxly attractive specimen.
