Quarter Dollars-Standing Liberty
101st Airborne Collection. A group of Standing Liberty quarters was recently extracted from the consignor's Dansco collection, as all the other pieces are circulated. Included are: 1917-D type-2 (MS-62 and extremely original toning that looks much like mint-set patina), 1919 (UNC/FH but showing hazy surfaces), 1925 (Ch BU), 1926-D (UNC but not well struck and showing album color), and 1928 (Ch BU/FH and with attractive turquoise iridescence clinging to the devices. Ash-grey patina tends to subdue the luster on either side, a remnant of delicate circulation although the reverse seems slightly more energetic. One medium nick just below the ear joins a plethora of other much smaller, scattered abrasions. The reverse was struck off of a moderately failed die, a circular die crack connecting many of the peripheral letters.
