  • Lot #403 - 1848-C PCGS VF-35 (green label)
  • Gold $5-Liberty Head Half Eagle
  • Mintage: 64,462. Curiously bright somehow despite 25 points of wear and the presence of utterly bold mustard-gold over lemony hues. While obviously moderately worn, this scarcer Charlotte issue almost never saw good strikes to begin with. Unlike some, all signs of circulation amount to honest wear and only minimal bagmarks, compared to many dinged survivors.

  • Lot #405 - 1854-O NGC AU details/cleaned
  • Hammer: $2,400
  • Gold $3-Indian Princess Head
  • Philatelists rejoice! Strangely, both the three-dollar gold princess and three-cent silver were actually issued to make easy the purchase of United States postage stamps, which were three cents and came in sheets of one hundred. Less than 25,000 minted in New Orleans for the inaugural year of issue.
