Gold $5-Liberty Head Half Eagle
Large Date. 31 graded XF-45, 44 higher at PCGS. Identified by noticing that "2" in the date rests closer to the rim than to the bust and considered somewhat less rare than the small-date logotype. Very subtle greyish-canary deposits rest within the central area of all fields, and contrasts well with the underlying glint of Charlotte gold. While every single star except the first unexpectedly retains full dentilation, inevitable contact marks across the center of the portrait and spreading out left of the mintmark speak to the level of wear, as does the obvious loss of intricacy to circulation.

On the obverse, some contrast results from mostly champagne-bronze hue toward the right while a minority area toward the left displays glittering silvery effects. The cheek appears clean at first glance, but further inspection reveals a slender hairline abrasion.
