Bachelor Simon Collection. Glimmers of brick-red surround both sides in defiance of the "BN" designation but there is no denying that attractive, slightly frosty brown patina has overtaken the vast majority of the surface. Much to the coin's benefit, the obverse shows essentially no evidence of the carbon spots that plague these Island-centric coppers while the reverse does retain several of the small dark intruders. Flush with luster and undeniably attractive.

The 1885 is one of those key dates that seems highly available in low grades (think AG to VG), locatable in high grade (Choice BU and up), but about impossible to find in grades between those two extremes.
