101st Airborne Collection. A group of Standing Liberty quarters was recently extracted from the consignor's Dansco collection, as all the other pieces are circulated. Included are: 1917-D type-2 (MS-62 and extremely original toning that looks much like mint-set patina), 1919 (UNC/FH but showing hazy surfaces), 1925 (Ch BU), 1926-D (UNC but not well struck and showing album color), and 1928 (Ch BU/FH and with attractive turquoise iridescence clinging to the devices. VAM-14. While a thinly doubled profile is one characteristic of this VAM, a more telltale pickup point should be the way a reverse die crack traverses "ED ST" through the wing tip. A choice white example with a very good strike, the present 1890-CC features substantially less abrading of the cheek than usual, but does show delicate planchet striations over and through Liberty's ear.
