Lot #589 - 1798 Small Eagle 15 Stars PCGS XF details/cleaned
Silver Dollar-Draped Bust
Zee's Densities Collection. Bolender-2, BB-81 (R.3). Scarcer of the two 1798 "small eagle" die-marriages, B-2 also has the only fifteen-star reverse, leading to a separate entry in the Red Book. A glossy, semi-polished surface gives testament to the PCGS "cleaned" disclaimer yet decent sharpness pervades across both sides. Nevertheless, some limited grunge still manages to cling to isolated portions of the reverse.

Lot #418 - 1807 Bust Left NGC MS-62

Gold $5-Capped Bust to Left Half Eagle
Bass-Dannreuther-8, by far the more available of two die marriages dated 1807. Not only is this "the right" variety to pick for type purposes, but in a competent grade of MS-62, one doesn't miss out on much as compared to a mere point's upgrade. This example features acceptable, slightly muted luster, and an excellent strike despite lightly clashed dies. Near-brilliant canary-gold hue generally dominates except where a trace of greyish overtone shows, particularly on the portraits. The cataloger could find no evidence of adjustment marks -- bonus points for many type collectors.

From the VCA website, “Faithful to the very first Alhambra® jewel created in 1968, the Vintage Alhambra creations by Van Cleef & Arpels are distinguished by their unique, timeless elegance. Inspired by the clover leaf, these icons of luck are adorned with a border of golden beads.” This necklace has mother of pearl with the beaded border and comes with the original Certificate of Authenticity from White Plains-Neiman Marcus. The reference number for this item is VCARA45900 and the individual serial number is JA327404.
