Gold $5-Liberty Head Half Eagle
Large date, large letters. 1842-D wrangles with 1861-D as a contender for the rarest Dahlonega half-eagle, and a high-grade survivor of any description will be in demand by astute collectors. ANACS claims this AU sharpness example to be cleaned, and indeed, glossy lemon-yellow shows across both sides, accompanied by obvious hairlines in the obverse lower right field. Perhaps as important as anything, the surface actually displays a lot fewer abrasions than typical for a southern mint gold coin.

Pacific Coast Highway Collection. KM#3, Berlin mint. The first year of the type also claims the lowest mintage (77-thouand), although the survival rate for 1891 seems fairly high given the availability. Pearl grey embraces the surface, relieved by occasional golden crimson splashes.

Circa 1960/1970, this sterling silver (tested, not marked) and turquoise squash blossom necklace features 10 blossoms set between seamed beads and an 8-stone Naja at the bottom. The design of the piece is mostly original with a slight twist on modernism. The turquoise used in the making appears to be from the Cripple Creek mine. Condition is very nice for its age with a vintage patina to the metal. Unsigned piece so tribal affiliation is unknown. Length 28”, 5.78 troy ounces.
