Early United States mint sets are among the most difficult items to find in their original condition and packaging. There are five such issues here that includes a 1949, a 1951, a 1952, a 1954, and a 1957. Each of these are still in their original cardboard sleeves and envelopes as well. Wispy and dusty tones cling to all of the surfaces of each issue within each set lending even further evidence to these particular set’s originality. Doctor Drew Collection. Sheldon-24 "apple cheek", a common die-marriage that always shows light die rust from the bottom of the neck into the date area. Cataloger's grade: [XF-40] takes into account the late die state V, for which a radial die crack crosses over "L" in LIBERTY. Marvelous Hershey-brown adorns the entire surface, yielding to only the slightest ashy texture on the high points, especially the highly rounded cheek evoked by the "apple cheek" nickname. Shallow detail at ENT on the reverse is characteristic of the die state and not due to circulation. Not known to many collectors is that Sheldon's father created the name for S-24.
