  • Lot #866 - 1873 Open 3 PCGS PR-64BN (green label)
  • Two Cent Pieces-Two Cent Pieces
  • Cheddars de Voirs Collection. 32 graded PR-64 BN, 23 higher at PCGS. Needle sharp throughout, the shield displays meticulously straight, defined lines and the motto appears fully struck save a breath of softness at "WE". Delicately glowing brick red accents flame outward from the devices but there is no doubt at all that brown patina occupies the vast majority of the surface. There are no obvious grade-limiting detriments to suggest limiting the grade to PR-64.

  • Lot #815 - 1886 NGC PR-66+ CAMEO
  • Hammer: $2,400
  • Nickels-Liberty Head
  • 3 graded PR-66+ CAM, 5 higher at NGC. Razor sharp obverse definition mates up well with bold but not quite perfect reverse sharpness for this shimmering, ostentatious proof type coin that also happens to be the same date as one of the well-known keys. All by itself, the obverse likely grades at least PR-67-plus but on the reverse, one can find a brief area of planchet imperfection beneath TED, limiting the grade.
