Gold $2.50-Indian Head Quarter Eagle
Strong mintmark -- indeed about as bold of a "D" as one will ever find on this key quarter-eagle. So early seems to be the die-state that one wished it would be possible to view the edge outside of the gloopy PCGS insert. Both sides exhibit diminished luster, perhaps because of denser carrot-gold patina, and a staccato pinscratch sneaks down the forward part of the Indian's headdress, assuredly helping to determine the grade.

Included are: 1911-S (struck with unexpected sharpness and slightly glossy over bold luster), and 1913-D (remarkable purplish over tones swirl over about two-thirds of the obverse and a quarter of the reverse). A pair of ram heads intersect at the top of this hinged bangle with a twisted cable design. The textured gold ram’s have rubies for eyes and small round diamond accents set in white gold at their necks. The bangle measures 32mm wide and tapers down to 8mm at the bottom. Dimensions 2.75” x 2.5”, 36.6 dwt.
