Cheddars de Voirs Collection. A remarkable trio of California fractional gold, specifically 25-cent pieces, comprises this PCGS grouping. Included are: BG-727 (astonishingly high grade and blatantly prooflike), BG-728 (drenched in curiously lackluster greenish hue and unusually well struck), and BG-872 (rather outstanding citrus-gold on the obverse and lemon-yellow on the reverse with semi-prooflike reflectivity). Half Dollars-Capped Bust, Lettered Edge
Overton-103, large 8. One of the more interesting die-marriages, this heavily die-clashed half-dollar actually represents early dies for O-103, as the O-103a die-state requires a crack down the center of the date, not found here. Darker toning envelops the surfaces, showing olive-violet, mulberry-grey and cobalt-orange undertones. Vibrant luster fills either side with excellent visual appeal and only limited contact marks on the cheek are worth looking for.
