  • Lot #287 - 1920 U.S. Philippines Woodrow Wilson Silver Medal PCGS MS-64
  • Collector Lots-Medals
  • Ga Ha Ha Consignment. HK-449, R.4 in silver. 23 graded MS-64, 10 higher at PCGS. Struck to commemorate opening of the Manila Mint in 1920, which was the first and only U.S. Branch mint located outside of the United States proper. Manila struck coinage from then until 1945 when it was destroyed during the closing days of World War II, after Japan had seized the mint for production since 1941. Blistering luster generates adequate eye-appeal, along with pleasing vintage patina for this hefty specimen.

  • Shining gloss upon even the first glance, one may be baffled to understand how only an MS-64 grade was appointed. A hint of cameo and barely visible striations confirms that the chosen die was polished right before striking this gem specimen.
