101st Airborne Collection. A group of Standing Liberty quarters was recently extracted from the consignor's Dansco collection, as all the other pieces are circulated. Included are: 1917-D type-2 (MS-62 and extremely original toning that looks much like mint-set patina), 1919 (UNC/FH but showing hazy surfaces), 1925 (Ch BU), 1926-D (UNC but not well struck and showing album color), and 1928 (Ch BU/FH and with attractive turquoise iridescence clinging to the devices. Type-2 reverse. A large mintage of 1150 pieces anticipated heavy demand as the centennial year of the nation's birth. Expectations may also explain the apparent extra care taken to produce these proofs as this is a typically razor-sharp example with no sign of weakness whatsoever. Phenomenal, velvety violet-green deeply saturates the obverse and layers over the outer areas of the reverse where it surrounds salmon-gold hues.
