  • Lot #588 - 1796 Small Date, Large Letters BB-61, B-4 NGC VG details/polished
  • Hammer: $1,550
  • Silver Dollar-Draped Bust
  • Swap Deterred Collection. Bolender-4, BB-61, small date, large letters, easily attributed by noticing the dotted "1" in the date. Taking into account heavy wear as well as substantial abrading across the surface ("polished"), we believe the coin was taken off of late die-state III dies. The surface may have been unfairly treated to help downplay a plug or void just left of the date.

  • Lot #521 - 1898-S and 1899-S, both PCGS MS-62
  • Hammer: $4,900
  • Gold $20-Liberty Head Double Eagle
  • San Francisco gets essentially turn-of-the-century representation by this near-choice lot. Both coins flourish with the expected ravishing luster always seen for the era, and 1899-S adds in subtle pinkish sheen to boost the eye-appeal even further. Superb strikes for this two coin lot.
