Lot #763 - 1861-O WB-103, Confederate Issue, PCGS MS-61
Half Dollars-Liberty Seated
WB-103. PCGS did not recognize the "bisected date" which might have quickly led to realization that this half-dollar was struck under authority of the Confederacy after the New Orleans mint was seized at the beginning of the Civil War. Although graded only MS-61, both sides exhibit charmingly vibrant luster. Ref: A Register of Liberty Seated Half Dollar Varieties, Bill Bugert.

Land And Home Collection. Hodder 2-D, Breen-190, R.6+. The "Godless" LON DON variety is much scarcer than the more often encountered GOD PRESERVE LONDON varieties. The surface of this wallet-brown example has a somewhat dry appearance but has no curious discolorations. Several tiny, curious pockmarks dot the elephant side, while the reverse shows no unexpected contact.
