Gold $5-Liberty Head Half Eagle
More available than the "large date" logotype but still hardly common given the mintage of under 60-thousand pieces. The pale, lackluster surface displays a thin coating of haze that helps subdue any potential remaining luster. Strike quality seems to be about as nice as is ever seen for 1842-D.

Early generation NGC holders, often referred to as “fatty” holders, fill this eight coin lot from start to finish. Six of the eight examples are Morgan silver dollars and includes an 1879-S MS-65, an 1881-S MS-63, 2x 1881-S MS-64, an 1885 MS-64, and a 1902-O MS-62. The remaining two examples are a 1925 Peace dollar MS-64 and a 1942-D Walking Liberty half-dollar MS-64. This lot also presents a nice mix of labels with some greens and tans both noticed (ck).
