Large Cents-Classic Head
Sheldon-281, no clash marks and thus suggestive of an earlier strike. This Sheldon variety always seems to come a little softly struck yet the headband shows plainly and most definition within the strands of hair are nicely rendered. PCGS states "cleaned" but a more thorough inspection suggests that corrosion has been relieved from the surface, the whole coin later recolored nicely and nearly to the state of an original piece.

Scott Laiter Collection. Mintage: 1632. 19 graded AU-55, 76 higher at NGC. Purposefully struck and showing bold luster, either side appears to retain a full complement of detailing despite five points of wear. Mere finger friction has taken on deeper shades of carrot-gold, shying away from the pleasing luster seen in the peripheries; Underappreciate by collectors given the unusually low mintage.

Recovered from the sunken Spanish galleon, the Nuestra Senora De Atocha this 8 Reale coin of Philip III is set into a 14K yellow gold (tested) wire bezel. According to the certificate of authenticity from Treasure Salvors, Inc. Mint: P, Assayer: T and Grade: One.
