Bachelor Simon Collection. Terrific almost to the point of bedazzling the observer, this gem half-dime has the potential to elevate the quality of most type collections being worked on today. A sensational strike brought up even intricate, minute details at Liberty's face while leaving the reverse just about fully rendered by the dies. Almond-grey drapes the surface and permits outstanding, vibrant energy to meet the viewer's eye.

Well preserved surfaces are delicately swathed in steamy patina, which itself yields to rather exceptional toning on both sides, but especially the obverse. Here, fiery crimson-gold and chartreuse colors encircle a bright silver-blue oval over the Indian's portrait, while on the reverse, Arctic-blue and magenta-peach blend together. Remnants of a fingerprint beneath the bison's head may be limiting the technical grade, but the aesthetics would be difficult to beat at the gem grade level.
